Who we are...

A chance synergy of talents and interests drives CooksArt.

Brian Ross started from a background in machining. While studying jewelry techniques for fun, he discovered a talent for making things aesthetic as well as practical. Married to a professional cook, a food connection was inevitable. Stunning and functional tools are the result.

"I am trying for designs that jump out at you. Most production cutters are over simplified to suit their machinery's limitations. I make what I like and then find a way to do it."

Valerie Ross usually works in edible media. Sweets and savouries, haute cuisine and bistros have seen her creative touch. Dissatisfied with available shapes and frustrated by ordinary thinking that only saw cookies coming out of cookie cutters, she researches and refines concepts and bounces them off Brian.

"Art can be hung on a wall. Art can also lead to more art. Think about using shapes to enhance the dish you are serving: polenta from a salmon cutter, jumping over asparagus spears, accentuating a fish entree."

Lorry Mulvaney trained in Fine Arts, then followed a musical urge as a professional musician, drawing nature subjects for recreation. An interest in food as art lead him to pastry arts training and award winning showpiece works in cast sugar, pastries and chocolate sculpture. CooksArt caught his interest as he is returning to his first love as a painter and illustrator.
